Plaka is a small village but benefits from a lively community and is served by a small but well-stocked grocery store and a number of bars and restaurants.
Almyrida
An unspoiled village 10 minutes from the Villa. It has a lovely shallow sandy beach.
Kalives
About 15 minutes drive away, Kalives is a larger market town, with a greater range of amenities such as banks, churches and supermarkets and other stores.
Chania
Thirty five minutes drive away is Chania,once the capital of the whole of Crete and now a charming atmospheric city. The historic old town is full of shops and restaurants, many lining the old harbour; while the newer marina and cosmopolitan shopping areas provide a wide range of amenities.
